Motel Vintage Pop Up Preview

Hey gals! Hope everyone is enjoying the summer sunshine, because we certainly are!

Last week we hosted a special 2 day Motel Vintage Pop Up Shop in London and had an exclusive preview ahead of the launch and wanted to share some insider info and pics with you all!

The Motel Vintage Pop Up preview was held in our London HQ which was converted into a retro vintage den for the night with cute tea cups, a 1970's vintage bar and a pretty awesome record player spinning some tunes. The lovely girls from Rockalily Cuts were on hand to create 1950's hair do's for guests with impressive up-do's and glam victory rolls. We also had the lovely team from The Vintage Cosmetics Company showcasing their new range of accessories and beauty products and offering fluttery false eyelashes by their professional make-up artist.

A party isn't a party without some sweet treats right?! Our local cake-making friends, Masters, made us some delicious sweet snacks to nibble on though out the evening, from the infamous cronuts to the one-is-never-enough chocolate brownies, we definitely indulged for the night! All the snacks and drinks were presented in cute vintage tea cups and plates courtesy of The Vintage Sisters which we wanted to keep and take home with us!!

If you haven’t heard about the jewellery brand Gogo Philip then you have definitely been missing out. They sell bold statement jewellery pieces that can make any look turn up! Their key style is gold plated jewellery inspired by 90's and urban culture with a modern twist. (Think Salt-n-Pepa huge hoop earrings) and they were also selling some of their latest styles at the Pop Up shop.

Our Motel Vintage collection has a mixture of different styles with inspiration from 80's and 90's culture and all reworked from original vintage garments. There were iconic Levi jeans showcased as well as floral shirts, pinafores and 2 piece bralett and shorts sets. A favourite was the PE style shorts and Adidas cardigans which was a big craze in the 80s. Guests were also going crazy for our cute 50's style cropped tie front shirts, which are available online now at Motelrocks.com too!

We all had a great time here at Motel and we hope that everyone that attended and shopped the Motel Vintage collection did too! Keep in the loop with all our future events, Pop Up shops and sample sales on our social media at the links below;

Motel Rocks Sample Sale!!

It's been a super busy week here at Motel HQ as last week we held our spring sample sale in our London showroom. Thanks to everyone that came down and picked up a bargain, and a massive thank you to all the awesome street teamers who helped out – we couldn’t have run it without you!

We caught up with street teamers Philippa Maju and Elysia Davies while they were both here helping out and had a little natter about their street team experience…

So gals, what do you like about being in the Street Team?

Philippa: I get to hear about all the latest new clothes before everyone else. Getting to be part of fun events and have exclusive offers and credit to spend at Motel is great!

Elysia: Getting to know about the brand, having an insight into what happens at Motel. I really enjoy attending events and e-meet other bloggers and Street Teamers on the Facebook page.

Well we're glad you love Motel as much as we do! Tell us, what's your favourite thing about Motel?

P: The variety, there's so many things for different occasions; you can fill a whole wardrobe with just Motel!

E: I find Motel very unique. They do a wide range of prints that you don't see from other brands. I also love how they communicate with their customers. Motel are always there to help!

That's what we like to hear! You girls had a sneaky peek at our forthcoming summer collection whilst you were in the showroom too – what did you think?

E: I love it; there are so many pieces that I want, but I love the new sunflowers print. It’ll be great for summer.

P: I've kinda the same, loving the Sun Moon and Starts print and the Oriental Dragon! Can't choose just one, I love them both!

Now we know what you love about Motel already, what would be like to see more of at Motel or in the Street Team?

@ohmymeowy
P: I would say, more frequent updates on the Street Team Facebook and Twitter pages and more Street Team only events. I would really like to see an actual Motel store. Where you can look at all the prints and try them on.

E: Maybe an event to meet other Street Teamers would be good, a chance to network and make links with the fashion industry. I would also like to see Motel getting more involved at universities. Collaborating with bloggers and spreading the Motel love!

Thanks both for your insights into the street-team and we look forward to checking out pictures of you rocking your Motel finds on your blogs soon :)

Remember to check out the Facebook and Twitter pages to see what’s new with Motel!

November Street Teamer of the Month...Leanne Woodfull!

Check out Leanne's blog 'thunderandthreads' here!

Tell us a bit about yourself
I'm Leanne Woodfull, a fashion and beauty blogger from Dublin. I recently moved to London and I'm loving it!

What inspires your fashion style/your fave type of thing to wear?
Everything from movies to music to street-style. I would describe my style as Morticia Addams meets Courtney Love.

Your fave season for dressing and why?
I love wearing black; PVC, faux leather and sheer items are my fave! Summer, probably because I tend to wear a lot of crop tops and shorts - Winter tends to not be the most suitable for that!

Best thing about being part of Motel street team and why you love Motel!
4. I've literally adored Motel since it began and it was one of the first companies to ever support me as a blogger - I'll never forget that! The street teaming is a heap of fun; a great way to treat your readers with the discount code - and yourself with the credits!

Meet our Street Team Autumn Stylist: Mai Stor!

Hello lovelies! My name is Mai Stor, I live in Israel and I'm a 14 year old girl who has strong passion for fashion! Since I was 10 years old I started to be more involved in the fashion world: I watched runways on 'Fashion TV' and looked over blogs. It took me 4 years to decide that I wanna be a fashion blogger and try my best to succeed.

My style is changing- sometimes I can wear a lovely dress, sometime I can wear crazy leggings and even a good old pair of jeans :) I get inspired mostly from my favourite bloggers, some runways and magazines (I'm not reading a lot, but when I do, I do get inspired!) I can't leave the house without my headphones, my phone, some wipes and a key. And from all of them my favourite is my phone (of course!) because there are a lot of songs of my all time favourite singers, social media like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram!

My favourite season is definitely fall, because the style is more than amazing, it's gorgeous. I love the brown colours; they are so warm and cosy for fall time. And I am the kind of person that lights a scented candle in her room, because I like when my room smells delicious- vanilla scent, yummy <3

Now, let's move into another subject! Motel Rocks has the best clothing e-v-e-r! I'm not joking, they have amazing clothes. That's why I decided to do a wishlist for the fall time from Motel Rocks- there it is:

If you liked what you see in this post, don't forget to check out my blog Stormia, and also use your 20% discount code using this code- Stormia, because you have to buy something from Motel Rocks!

Guest Post by Concrete Collar!

We have some amazing dediacted fashionistas on the street team as you well know and we're happy to introduce you to some here! Concrete Collar is a blog by two architect students about the cross-polination between fashion and architecture, interetsing stuff and they've writen us a guest post reporting on some festival styling at Field Day Festival London. Take a look at their blog, facebook and instagram for more of their fashion know how!

Hi there!

The girls of Concrete Collar here! Hope you all enjoyed your long weekend. Ciana was in London for Field Day Festival and snapped some great street style for you guys.

Some trends on the rise for this festival season in particular are the Kanken backpack and all things fluffy! Floral headgear, and denim cutoffs are still great festival staples. This summer though we think you should reinvent your floral headgear... try DIYing some cat ears as seen below with some miniature flowers! 90s gear is still seeing a major revival in the form of crop tops and dungarees. Try wearing yours with a baggy hoodie to vamp up the grunginess, or even better with a scrunchy and round rimmed sunnies!

All the best,

Ciana and Becky

Meet our ST Stylist Lorna Collins!

“Hello everyone!
I’m Lorna, an eighteen year old student who’s studying Fashion Promotion in September. Some things I can’t go a day without are: good music, incessant amounts of tea and reading fashion magazines and blogs. Being picked as a Motel Street Team Stylist is super exciting for me and perfect as I absolutely love the entire Motel Rocks store... No exaggeration. My blog, Girl in Albion, is a mixed bag of things ranging from my personal style to favourite brands (featuring Motel Rocks - of course!) and trends that are catching my eye at the moment.
It’s difficult to pin down but I’d say my style is a combination of marshmallow cute with a slight rock ‘n’ roll edge whenever I’m feeling like it. It’s inspired by whatever I see in magazines and stick onto my walls in the spur of the moment – I have pictures of punk heroine Debbie Harry to dainty and graceful Audrey Hepburn. One day I’ll be all about the pastel ice cream colour palette and the next day I’ll be in a world of leather and studs.  The best thing is being able to mix them together and experiment with my style.

My favourite summer trends involve floral prints, lemon sorbet and mint hues and anything covered with daisies!  This is where Motel Rocks comes in with their wonderful summer-themed items. I can’t stop looking at the Penny Babydoll Dress in Daisy Appliqué, it fits in with the monochrome trend AND features daisy appliqué detailing around the neckline and sleeves – insanely cute and a definite must-have. I’m also lusting after the Dora Frayed Denim Short in Blue Marble Print after buying the dress version. The vibrant tie dye print would be perfect paired with a 90’s crop top at a festival or on the beach!

If you’d like to see more of my never-ending wishlists or my outfit posts, head over to my blog and don’t forget(!) you can get a massive 20% off when you enter my code ‘girlinalbion’ at the checkout. Why not treat yourself to that item you can’t stop staring at!?
What are your favourite Motel Rocks pieces this summer?”

March Street Teamer of the month...Ciara O' Doherty!

We are so happy to introduce you to Ciara, our March Street Teamer! Check out her stylish blog www.wildchildstories.com and fab tips on street teaming below, we LOVE her!

You are this months Street Teamer, how does that feel?
It feels absolutely amazing! Its such an honour to be recognised by an international brand whom I love so much! I always check my emails first thing in the morning, so seeing this news in my inbox was such a wonderful start to the day!

What made you want to join the Motel Rocks Street Team?
Mainly because I love the brand so much, I own quite a few Motel Rocks pieces now, and I figured being a Street Teamer would work well with my blog and other social networking sites, which thankfully, it did!

What advise would you give to other teamers?
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there, and get sharing your code! Style some looks using your favourite Motel pieces, and share your code with the outfit post, or even just make a mood-board with some of your top picks of the season, and share your code alongside that.

Any tips on how to make the most of being a Street Teamer?
Get creative with it, and try to think of new and interesting ways to share your code. People will respond better when there is some thought put into it, rather than just spamming people.

Whats the best thing about being in the Street Team?
It's great to be working along side an amazing brand like Motel, and of course getting to put my commission towards some lovely new bits for my wardrobe is always a pleasure, but I have to say that best thing by far about being a Street Teamer is when people tell me they've used my code to buy something that they really love, or when people thank me for sharing it, that's always a really great feeling!

Guest Post by Melanie!

Hi everyone! I’m Melanie and I blog over at Those Things They Said. First off, I’d like to thank Laura for selecting me as the Street Team’s ‘Blogger of the Week’…I’m tremendously honored!
Now, I don’t think I can tell you enough about how much I love Motel Rocks. Each season, I fall in love with all the new prints and styles and I’m always thoroughly impressed with the quality.
Tried and true, my Jordan jeans are amongst my favorite Motel purchases. Not only are they the most comfortable pants that I own, but they make such great statement wardrobe pieces. The fit is also really flattering which is something that usually concerns me with pants as I’m on the curvy side and usually have to deal with my pants “gapping” (if you have this problem, size down to your waist size and the stretch can accommodate your hips!). I know I’ve found something worthwhile when I own it in multiples (I have three, haha.)
Right now I’m really into the Laynie dress with the cross embellishments. It’s such a cute dress that’s in line with my personal style. The baby doll cut paired with the sheer top is so dainty and perfect. This would definitely go great with a pair of Doc Martens or Jeffrey Campbell Tardy boots as well as some basic accessories. I’m basically in love with any of the styles with the cross embellishments…they’re all so edgy!
If you guys would like to see any more of how I style my Motel items, feel free to check out my blog. There, I post outfits, illustrations, wishlists, DIYs and more J

Guest post by Ciara!

At ST HQ we LOVE our teamers so wanted to get to know you guys better! We are looking for guest bloggers to write reviews, tips or just general Motel love. Heres our first blogger Ciara from Wild Child Stories Blog and we just love her and her fab review of our  Gabby Sequin Dress in Iridescent Green, enjoy!
"Hi Guys!
Its Ciara here from WildChildStories, and I have been given the very fun task of reviewing one of the hottest new Motel Rocks dresses for you all. I had purchased the Gabby Sequin Dress in Iridescent Green recently, using my special 20% Street Teamer Discount, and I have worn it quite a few times since! I've had a lot of people asking me about the fit of the dress and the quality of the sequins, so I thought it would be best to write a little review for everyone!
Look:
Firstly, I have to say that the quality of the sequins are fantastic! What gives the dress its uber-sparkly look is that the sequins are actually iridescent, so depending on how the light hits them, each sequin cast off colours of green, blue and turquoise! I already have a few sequinned pieces in my wardrobe, but none of them have the same type of colour-changing sequins, so I was really impressed by this dress, and just how sparkly it is.
Fit:
I am 5'8" and a size Uk 10, and as Motel Rocks garments usually run very true to size, I felt confident ordering a size 10. I definitely made the right choice, as the size 10 fits me like a dream! Its fits nice and snug on your body (typical of the body-con style) but there is a slight "give" or stretch in the fabric, so you're certainly not uncomfortable wearing it all night. The material is also quite thick, which I always find looks and feels better than thinner material on body-con dresses. One thing that I found when I first tried on the dress was that the sleeves felt a little tight, but after wearing the dress for an hour or so they loosened and the fit was perfect.
Overall:
I have to say, this dress has severed me very well already, I even managed to incorporate it into my Halloween costume!  I went was a superhero called "Lady Sparkle", and this super-sparkly number was the perfect addition to my look!  For me, the Gabby Sequin Dress is the Ultimate Party Dress, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to make a statement!  It is also available in Silver and Black sequins, but Motel have recently released the dress in Iridescent purple too, and I am very tempted to get it!

I hope that answered any questions that some of you might have, and if you want to see more from me, you can check out my blog at http://wildchildstories.com
and don't forget guys, you can also use my special Street Teamer discount! To get 20% off all your full priced orders, just enter the code, "WildChildCiara" at the checkout!
Happy Shopping!
